Temple History
Mallikarjuna at Srisailam is both a Jyotirlinga and one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peeths (Bhramaramba Devi). Set in the Nallamala forest above the Krishna river, it is mentioned in the Mahabharata and Skanda Purana.
Belief · Manyata
“Devotees believe a single visit here equals the merit of an Ashwamedha Yagna.”
Vastu & Shilpa
Architecture
Nagara-style shikhara with a raised sanctum, a pillared mandapa, and stone carvings depicting Shiva's cosmic dance. The stonework at Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga has been maintained across generations by the temple trust, honouring both the vastu tradition and the region's craftsmanship.
Isht Devta
The Deity — Lord Shiva (Mallikarjuna) & Goddess Bhramaramba
Lord Shiva (Mallikarjuna) & Goddess Bhramaramba is worshipped here as the presiding form of the divine. Devotees offer prayers, flowers, and sacred chants; the daily aarti cycles anchor the temple's rhythm from Brahma Muhurta at dawn to the Shayan aarti at night.
