Temple History
The Tirumala temple on the seven hills (Saptagiri) has been worshipped continuously for over a thousand years. Patronised by the Pallavas, Cholas and Vijayanagara emperors, it is the world's most visited place of worship. The seven hills (Seshachalam) are venerated as the seven hoods of Adisesha. The murti is Swayambhu in the Tribhanga posture, bearing Shankha and Chakra; a thick coating of pachai karpooram (camphor) is applied weekly. TTD performs the Suprabhata Seva composed by Prativadi Bhayankaram Annan in 1430 CE every morning. The Hundi receives over ₹1,500 crore annually in offerings, and the kitchen produces around 3 lakh laddus daily — the recipe is protected under Geographical Indication tag #99 since 2009.

Vastu & Shilpa
Architecture
Dravidian architecture with towering gopurams, sculpted vimana, and long stone corridors leading to the garbhagriha. The stonework at Tirumala Tirupati Balaji has been maintained across generations by the temple trust, honouring both the vastu tradition and the region's craftsmanship.
Isht Devta
The Deity — Lord Venkateswara
Lord Venkateswara is worshipped here as the presiding form of the divine. Devotees offer prayers, flowers, and sacred chants; the daily aarti cycles anchor the temple's rhythm from Brahma Muhurta at dawn to the Shayan aarti at night.
